I’m all about building, tinkering, and exploring the tech world from the ground up. I am mostly a software developer, but hardware and tech maker projects are my jam too. I’m always knee-deep in something interesting. oh, and I am an avid trail runner too. If inside, I will be coding. If outside, I will be running.
This site is where I share what I’m working on and what I’m learning. The Posts section is where I write about things that peak my curiosity — there will be write-ups on my own maker and development projects, highlights from other creators and whatever else catches my eye. If it’s clever, useful, or just plain fascinating, it might end up there.
Then there’s the Newsletter — originally born on Beehiiv as Tech it Till You Make It (https://ttym.beehiiv.com), it evolved into the DKIWT — Didn’t Know I Wanted That newsletter. It’s a curated stream of cool stuff you didn’t know you needed until you saw it. That’s the version that lives on here now, and I’ll be opening up email subscriptions sometime in the future so you can get it straight to your inbox.
This site is developed using the codeigniter4 PHP framework. The front-end uses Bootstrap 5 for responsive design and jQuery for interactivity. I host it on a self-managed VPS, which gives me full control over the environment and allows me to tinker with server configurations as needed. It runs on a docker container for which I have a script that automates the deployment and updates directly from the code that I push to GitHub. All of these are things that I am learning about as I go, so expect things to change over time. This site breaks all the time as I go about screwing up stuff, but I always fix it eventually.
